BETTER VERSION [link]
So I usually suck at drawing people who exist in real life and here is one such example of said terrible art. But this is aactually quite decent in comparison to previous attempts especially in regards to Firefly/Serenity characters. I think the color helps
. I didn't post the lineart because it's crap and I made a lot of changes in the colored version. But for those of you who aren't in the know - this is supposed to be a rendition of River Tam from the AWESOME tv series "Firefly" and the movie "Serenity." If you haven't seen 'em watch 'em NOW! 
Aside from River not looking like River... there are obvious anatomical problems but mostly because, as I said I made a lot of changes, and I just got tired of changing everything as I went and gave up. The whole head hurting, knee hurting thing is not really making for much productiveness.
Also this is a cheesy background but better than all my other ones. I totally <3 using brushes! There are just so many though! I could spend days just looking through them and experimenting! Actually probably more like weeks!
Anyway, I owe much credit to Jarmila
for the clouds which I just randomly started putting...randomly and it worked out rather well

Oh come now, it looks a lot like River, especially the eyes, you really captured the vacant, "lost" sort of look she has on her face when she's in crazy mode. Her hair and eyes look a little lighter in color than they should, but I can tell it's River. This a really good piece, much, much better than some of the other fan-art pieces I've seen on here 
I pretty much love River to death, my favorite character in the whole Firefly 'verse (though Mal is quite awesome as well, he's probably my other top favorite). I wish we'd gotten to explore her character more on the show :/ I mean we did get the movie, but still, she didn't get too much screen-time or character exploration during the run of the series
